Ann Willard was born in Hastings on 10th May 1938. She was the second of two children born to Rita and Bob, her sister Shirley being four years older. Ann had a very unsettled childhood due to World War Two, however, she had an extremely happy one, especially when her family were reunited when the war was over. They returned to Faversham in 1945 to live with the Taylors, a family they had lived with previously. It wasn't long before Bob fulfilled his dream of owning his own pub The Dover Castle in Teynham where the family resided. When Ann left school she got a job via Bill Taylor at a tobacconists of the same name, Taylor's in Faversham High Street. Later on Ann bought a share in the business and took over running the shop. When Ann was fifteen she met the love of her life, John and they got married on the 6th July 1957, together they shared many happy times and supported each other throughout. In 1962 planning permission was granted on some land John bought in Teynham to which he laid the foundations of what would be their "Family" home, "Copper Lodge" where they shared many family gatherings with their 4 children, Mark, Jo, Ali and Susie, followed by the grandchildren and eventually even great grandchildren. If only the walls at Copper Lodge could speak of the fun, laughter, conversations and family time spent there - what an amazing home. After many years running the tobacconist, gradually the wholesale tobacco industry started to decline, Ann saw an opportunity in a local paper to become a Market Researcher in 1985. Yet again Ann excelled in this job, her personality, friendly manor and the fact she was an excellent listener progressed her to being a Supervisor up until she retired at 65. Both John and Ann went on to enjoy time with their family, to trips in their Rolls Royce, holidays abroad and they took pleasure in making so many happy memories with family and friends. Ann was an incredible lady, beautiful inside and out, she was fun, very loving, thoughtful, strong, determined, supportive and above all an amazing, Wife, Mother and Grandmother. As Ann's health slowly declined she would always put a brave smile on her face and tackle each day as it came with her devoted husband John by her side caring for her. She will be missed immensely by her family, friends and all who knew Ann. Heaven has certainly gained a beautiful Angel.
